Good News!

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

I have found the most wonderful company to sew for me! They are a mother and daugter team, working from a home shop. Between them they have tons of experience both with production sewing and pattern design. Samples I’ve seen are meticulously done, I’m very pleased.

The best news is that I finally have a launch date! We will definitely be opening at the Babywearing Conference, August 3-6th in Portland, OR. I might even be able to sweet talk Website Guy (aka DH) into getting the site on-line for a simultaneous internet launch. Folks on my mailing list will get notification and a chance to order. (Hint hint, drop me an email!)

So, it’s July…

I had planned to have MBD open for business in June, but I have had a bit of a problem with the production company. They told me they could do the product and have it done by 6/9 but instead realized they didn’t have heavy enough equipment. I just found this out yesterday. (This release has, in fact, been a series of problems starting with the labels, but I digress.) At this point, I will probably launch at the conference. If I can get it together, I might offer my first line as a sort of pre-sale for people on my mailing list. The website might not be all together, but finished products are trickling in thanks to the efforts of my dear sewing friend who has been handling clothing and tote bags.

I’ll know more in a week or so. If this company can at least cut the fabric this week, then I can probably do the carriers myself. My goal is to have the designs in-stock and ready to ship, but this first line might have to be finished-to-order. Once I have all my panels and material back from the production company I will take some photographs and either do an emailing or some blog entries or both, and get them out for sale informally that way. My dh is my web guy, and he won’t take the week or so off work from his regular job to do my site until I have some inventory. I am determined to be up and running with previews of the fall line by the conference, first weekend of August.
