Here is the finished panel from the Master Gardeners’ Auction. It was designed in honor of Coldwater Spring.

From the website www.friendsofcoldwater.org:
“Coldwater is a 10,000-year-old spring that flowed at a pre-construction rate of 100,000-144,000 gallons a day. In addition to being a living geological museum, Coldwater was a traditional gathering place for Native American tribes of the upper Mississippi that used spring water for specific ceremonies requiring sacred water in a sacred landscape. The powerful Dakota god of waters and the underworld is said to dwell at Coldwater Spring. Coldwater is also the birthplace of Minnesota, where the soldiers lived who built Fort Snelling and site of the pioneer settlement whose citizens founded St. Paul and Minneapolis. Coldwater furnished water to Fort Snelling for 100 years.”

Cascadia Wildlands Holiday Benefit Auction

The auction is happening this Saturday, Dec. 2. I decided to offer a diaper bag this year. Someone should jump on it, it will probably go for a good price. The bidding has been open since the 20th, but the person arranging my donation only picked up the bag this tuesday.

I’m sorry, I haven’t been promoting these very well. People who saw them at the Babywearing Conference can tell you how cool they are, though. They are designed with cloth diapering and E.C. in mind.

Each bag comes with a special snap-in PUL lined wet bag, for diapers or wet clothes. As your kids get older, they are still useful for swimsuits, squished bananas, muddy socks, or anything else that you don’t want in your purse but have to carry home anyway.

There is also a removable small purse, just the right size for a wallet and a checkbook, so you don’t have to switch your cards around when you don’t want to carry the diaper bag.

The flap has a PUL-lined wipe pocket built in, great for packing your own cloth wipes, but large enough for paper ones too.

There’s also a cell phone or small camera pocket, a key clip, and a pocket on the outside for quick access.

If you’re interested and near Eugene, OR you should come to the auction. It is huge, Ring of Fire is catering, and there will be all kinds of good stuff for sale. For those of you too far away, they are offering absentee bidding. There is more information on their website, www.cascwild.org or you can email them at info@cascwild.org, or call 541-434-1463. They need to know your name, phone number, mailing address, item selection (call it “Mama By Design Diaper Bag”) and maximum bid amount. I told them retail $200, but you all know it was on sale for $160….

Here is the winning custom carrier, all finished and ready for a baby!

(the off-kilterness is due to my poor photography, not a feature of the actual panel)
